Continental Masonic Master Apron
Origin/date
The Netherlands, 1800-1850.
(I bought this apron in the Netherlands. But given this is a much copied continental example of the genre the exact place of origin can’t be certain.)
Material and dimensions
Silk with paillettes, embroidery and metal thread. Light blue silk border. 34 cm wide x 32 cm high.
Description
A very classic early 19th century apron. Between the two columns a representation of the temple with four stairs on a checkered pavement. Next and around the columns a large image of the acaccia. Behind the columns some trees on a field. On the flap a star.
