Origin/date
US seems a good guess since a lot of 19th century walrus ivory came from the States and since the popularity in the US of the Knigth Templer degree. Middle of the 19th century.
Material and dimensions
Walrus ivory, 15 cm long, head is 5 cm x 3 cm
Description
On one side of the head is an eye engraved with glory rays around it. The other side shows a skull with two crossed bones. In the middel you find “IN HOC SIGNO VINCES” (In this sign you will conquer). Both the skull and the moto refer to the order of knight templers.
